Course Description
This session will address the important decisions that must be made by the family and fiduciaries of a decedent. This will include decisions regarding income taxes, tax returns to file, the “post-mortem toolkit” of techniques available to address the failure of some persons to adequately plan their estates, and more.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the many important decisions that can and should be made by the heirs and fiduciaries of a decedent.
- Identify how disclaimers work, and the many planning opportunities they present.
- Determine the tax returns that must be filed after a decedent’s death to address the proper administration of the estate.
- State the key unique post-death elections and decisions that should be considered for a decedent client
